Elvis - The King, of Numerology?

by James Steem

Everyone knows that Elvis Presley was The King. But did you know that he was a numerologist?

It's true. Elvis carried three books with him wherever he went, and one of those three was a book about numerology - the science of numbers. That very book was recently sold on ebay for a cool $14,000!

Whoever bought the book, probably did so because of the fact it once belonged to a music ledgend. But the value of the information contained within it is worth even more than the price they paid, if they study and use it.

Numerology is the metaphysical science of numbers. In the same way that astrology is related to astronomy, but on the metaphysical plane, so numerology is related to pure mathematics.

The subject was first made popular by Pythagoras, but it's likely that it's older even that that.

So what is numerology all about, and what use is it?

Well the basic premise is that numbers are symbols for metaphysical energies, that is to say, the universal energies that are present everywhere in the world.

Because these eneregies are ever present, and connect everything (including time and space), and because everything can be represented by numbers, numerology gives us the power to use numbers to find hidden meanings in everything, and even to look into the future - or the past.

Sound complicated? It's actually pretty simple when you start looking at it. For example, one very common calculation is a person's "Life Path" number. This number is derived from a basic calculation on a person's date of birth. The result tells you certain common traits and characteristics about that person, in a similar way to their star sign in astrology.

The real power of numerology though, is when you take that Life Path number and link it to other dates - such as today's date, or even a date in the future. With further calculations, it's possible to determine what the future holds for that person on the date in question.

Whole numerology charts of a person's life can be built up in this way, giving a sort of roadmap for life.

There's almost no limit to what we can find out using numerology. Elvis certainly knew that, and it's why he kept his numerology book with him all the time. His understanding of numbers undoubtedly helped him on his tremendous rise to fame.

The Symbolism of an Anchor Tattoo

by Sam Smith

Anchor tattoos were all the rage for sailors. It was often the symbol of a very experienced sailor. Anchor tattoo designs are one of the oldest types of tattoos. However with an interest in all things retro and chic these have come back into fashion. In fact in the tattoo field as a whole retro tattoo designs have been experiencing a resurgence. These retro tattoo designs have come back to life with new more vibrant tattoo colors, designs and placements on the body. This trend originated on the west coast mostly and has even become known as west coast tattoo style. Retro themes in tattoo designs are especially popular with the rockabilly group.

So what is the symbolism behind the anchor tattoo design? While the earliest forms of an anchor being used as a symbol harkens all the way back to the early Christians. They would often use the anchor as a hidden symbol for the cross. This was often used to show that they were Christian while escaping persecution from the Greeks.

The symbol much later became popular with sailors. This is a pretty obvious connection here being that sailor use anchors constantly in their work.

The anchor tattoo design has become a symbol for stability and a strong foundation. It can also mean a boyfriend, girlfriend or significant other in someone's life. You see a man might get an anchor tattoo to show that his girlfriend is the stability in his life. These have become increasingly popular for women to get and they often place them just below their collar bone on the right of left side.

So the anchor tattoo is a great tattoo with lots of symbolism and history behind it. If you are looking for something to remind you to stay grounded or want to symbolism a particularly stable or grounding relationship that you have then an anchor tattoo design might be something to look into.
